4:41pm: I just did some cleaning up on my info page. It still had mention of Meteor on it and some weight issues with some weird preening.

I got in a tiff this afternoon and cut off most of my hair with my sewing scissors to go lap swimming... then couldn't find my swimming suit : / I just found it and plan to go back to the pool when it opens at 7pm, but for about 3 hours I was in an odd sort of stressed out, depressed, holy crap I'm graduating in a month and have so much BS to do kind of mood.

I don't like it when professors give you take home tests. I have one laughing at me in my backpack. It's as if it knows that I'm going to have to go use Polymath to solve all those pesky ODE's that he can't give to us on an in-class test and expect us to pass.

Only 27? Hm. I guess I need to read a Jane Austin novel. She seems to be the most popular author on here, but I've avoided her work like the plague. I wonder why they don't have any Heinlein or Asimov on the list.

I feel like a dork, now.

Life is good. I spent the summer in Richland, WA. I was working on the designs for the nuclear waste vitrification plant for Bechtel (as an intern slave). I fell in love with a mechanincal engineering contractor. Moved. I still speak with him frequently, but I can feel the distance growing.

Now I'm living in Calvert City, KY working at ISP Chemicals. I've found that industry isn't exactly beautiful. At times, as I'm prancing about the plant looking around, I feel like I'm playing for the wrong team. Engineering work is very fun, but it seems messy and involves so many nasty chemicals--I feel like I need a respirator just to walk around.

2:51pm: So... Still alive (good thing). Quck update:

No, I didn't get the Memphis job with Solae
However, I am going to Alabama for 10 weeks this summer! I'm going to Auburn University to participate in their REU program. I was so shocked/happy/stressed when I found out that they accepted me. Maybe I'm smarter than I think... nah. I'm fairly certain that I will be working in the bioapplications of clay nanoparticle doped polymers. Particularly in their use as a moisture/oxygen barrier for the packaging of foods. I have this vision of sitting around in a lab coat poking at cookies and sticking them in expensive equipment(which amuses me to no end). Plus, they're paying me $450 a week with free room and unlimited food. w00t
Meteor and I are going to "officially" be living together next year. We're moving into a duplex with my roommates downstairs. So, right now we're trying to figure out how to get moved and settled in befor I leave on th 27th. Meteor also starts summer school June 5th. I actually know the people who will be moving into this house, and they keepon bugging me about when we'll be moving out. So I ask the girl who's place we're moving into, and she doesn't know when she'll be moving out (she's pretty flaky). This puts me in a bit of a jam, and it makes me want to scream and pull down drywall.
In other news, next year some BioChemE friends and I will be working in the mircobiology lab on a OURE. We're going to test silver doped glasses and polymers for their biofilm resistance. That should be fun, and maybe our work will help it get introduced into medical devices. Catheters that won't cause bladder infections, yay!

That's pretty much what I've been up to this semester. Trying to stay on top of all my courses and work and the ChemE car (which made it to nationals). I need to go work on some MatLAB code for the final thermo project now.

^ rereading that made me realize what a silly little scientific bore I have become. Pretty much the onle books I've been reading other than textbooks have been Heinlein and birth/midwifery. I need to fix that.

1:34pm: Kitties!
Happy Valentine's Day, everyone!

I interviewed with Solae today. Hopefully I'll get a job with them; I kept on emphasizing my biochemical engineering background (I'm such a dork). If I do get the co-op then it'll be 20k in my pocket and I'll get to live in either Memphis or St. Louis for 6 months. I don't really like cities that much, but it's always nice to have a change.

I haven't updated in forever, but things have been fairly quiet here. Very little drama... my ex finally stopped stalking me after a year (we played cards the other day and he said he wanted me back... not going to do that again). Things are working out nicely with Meteor, though. He would be the only reason I wouldn't take a job, but he supports me gaining experience in my field ^^.

The other things I get to do on Valentine's Day... 3 hour microbiology lab and 3 hour organic chemistry lab... woo.

I hope everyone feels loved today. If you don't feel loved, then know that I love you!@

7:29pm: By request... Update
I'm currently living in a nice house with three other people. My days usually consist of going to class, cooking, cleaning, and playing. I love having a clean spacious kitchen. I've baked bread half a dozen times since I moved in, and the smells diffuse perfectly here. Also, I've discovered new ways to prepare venison-- in attempt to cater to my boyfriend's tastes. I live two blocks from a field perfect for flying kites. It's wonderful to walk there on a windy afternoon or during the prelude to a thunderstorm. I started going to kung fu classes. It's an interesting way to train the body and mind; in all likelyhood, I will continue to go.

Tami's wedding was awsome. I'm glad I got to see those two get hitched ^^

9:48am: Greetings from the land of Engineers!
I am safe and sound in the delightfully old dormitories of TJ North. I just got my computer set up last night, and I haven't had a chance to update since. There are so so so many men here; my class is only 23% female. I feel like hiding every time I leave my room. The only thing I really want are my books I ordered off of amazon. They were supposed to get sent with Burak, but they hadn't arrives. *breaks down into convulsive sobs* So far, we've just been doing the whole "lets force the freshman to socialize" programs. BUT, we do have this awesome project where we get to build a remote control car on it's chaise with 12 other students. Then we get to compete with the other design teams. :-) I do believe I'm in the appropriate school after all. YAY.

10:00pm: The most beautiful, pure creature I have ever had the pleasure of knowing was splattered on the highway after I left this afternoon. I truly love very few things. Why are they disappearing? I loved that dog. She was the last reminder of the brief stint that I loved my sister. Precious loved Christy. The dog kept her balanced, happy. Precious was a spayed puppy. It made me so happy to see her and Millie rolling around on the floor playing. It ws so innocent and sweet; surreal like a TV show from the '50's. I do not understand my father. I believe he gets some sick pleasure from catching you off-guard with horrifying news. I wake up, and the first statement to escape his lips in 5 days is "Your sister thinks she's Jesus. She's insane. They are holding her in a room in Louisiana." I come home tonight, and before I could lay my purse down it's "Precious was killed on the highway right after you left." There is never a "hello" or a "good morning" just cruel truths without any sugar coating. My stomach curls at the tangent of applying this behavior to my youth. What if I hadn't seen my sister slaughtered? Would it have been "Joyce was killed on the highway today" devoid of any intonation. I've lost my escapes. The trampoline that nursed me through many nights is gone. I spent hours thinking or devoid of thought with a steady supply of oxygen to the brain. Now all I have is pacing which frightens my mother. My loving familiar friend has been replaced by an obnoxious Christmas tree. My parents have been fighting. And crying. And acting unstable. I just ate a fucking ice cream cone. While I was eating that fucking ice cream I was thinking "Why the fuck am I eating this fucking ice cream cone?" I just need to be held, or beaten; it doesn't matter, both serve the same purpose. I haven't been sleeping. I feel violated when my mother tries to comfort me. I don't know why. Evasion has worked. My father leaves me alone. Why do anything? Everything that is beautiful is transitive, that's why it's beautiful. Nothing is as perfect as you can imagine it. Why not live and die in your imagination? Why not die? What is the point? How can I fix a world beyond repair when I'm just some broken toy myself? Who would ever want to play with a broken toy?

6:55pm: Argh! Why must they torment me!
I had a fun day today. As all you Poplar Bluffians know, the library has been closed for the past few days. On the schedule, I was posted to work this moning from 9-1 shelving. There were 7 ominous life-leaching carts that needed to be scanned, sorted, and shelved waiting for me, one of them freshly retrieved from the drop box by your humble narrator via the long way utilizing all the ramps. AHHHHHHHHHHHH!!! It wasn't that bad, though. They gave me a half hour lunch compliments of my boss, roast beef, yum. I was finished by 4:30 with another perilous trip on the ramps and checking-inage. Unfortunately, I now have a great distaste for the children's novels. Those horrid little books that only take up a 1/4 of an inch of shelf with lettering almost impossible to decifer as it distorts the name across the spine. Okay, so they're not that bad, BUT STILL! I would update more, but I've re-discovered the mighty power of being lazy.

HERE IS A SURVEY WITH A TWIST. YOU fill in the blanks about ME and
send it back to ME and ONLY ME. But FIRST, send a BLANK one to all
your friends, including ME, so they can return the favor to YOU. BE

It was very nice walking through the park with him Saturday night... holding hands... whispering of life, the universe, and everything... he stopped being such a philosophy whore, yet I'm not sure if I like this form of Mattiness better. Although, this one is capable of spinning on command. Then, he confessed that I probably won't get to see him again until May, so I guess I'll just wallow in self-pity until I find him once again...
